HIRING Producer for Hermaphroditus at Toronto Fringe Festival 2023
Recommended Submission Deadline: March 28, 2023 Dead Name Theatre is looking for a producer for its upcoming production of Rosalind Goodwin’s Hermaphroditus to be presented July 5-16, 2023 at Toronto Fringe Festival 2023.
about the show: Hermaphroditus is a retelling of the Greek myth of Hermaphroditus. Hermaphroditus walks the world as a trans woman, and decides to take their place on Olympus. However, Olympus- the current powers that be- are introducing anti-trans legislation to tighten their grip on the world as world leaders. Mixing poetry and dialogue- Hermaphroditus looks at the fight of a trans person in today’s trans culture shock. Hermaphroditus explores the relationship trans people have to power and how we can reclaim our power in a world that is outlawing trans people as we speak. You can read more about the show by visiting the HERMAPHRODITUS page on the DNT website.

HIRING Stage Manager for a Concert Version of Into the Woods

about the show: In our first company production, we will present a concert version of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Into the Woods. We believe this piece about navigating identity, finding self-love, learning and healing from the mistakes of our parents, balancing independence and interdependence (among many others) should be made more accessible to the trans, non-binary and queer community by exploring the themes of the show through these lenses and life experiences. In our concert-style performance, we aim to bring light to the importance of representation while creating a safe space for our community members and artists to create freely. You can read more about our company by visiting the INTO THE WOODSpage on the DNT website.
